Abstract： With the development of higher education revolution，more attention has been paid to higher institutes’ function of social service. Different universities have their own characters of subject design and teaching staff. To encourage universities to fulfill their responsibility of social service, promoting the development of social economy, the key is to build a relatively completely teachers’ performance index system of social service. This paper review research products in the past and analysis their advantage and disadvantage from the perspective of perception and background, theory, methods, conclusion and development. Based on this to explore approaches and theory of how to build agricultural university teachers’ performance index design of social service. Our research group study the performance index of NJAU to refine the system of university teachers’ performance index design of social service.

（一）研究背景
1.高校社会服务现状
（1）社会服务的地位及现状
中国高校的教学、科研已经基本实现体系化，但是社会服务距离体系化仍然有一定距离。作为高校主要三大职能之一，社会服务职能是建立最晚但是发展最快的一项。社会服务高等学校利用自身人力、财力、智力资源优势为社会做出直接贡献的有效途径。越来越多的高校凭借其社会服务职能凸显自己不可替代的重要性。因此高校在履行基本科学研究职能、教学职能的基础上应积极承担其社会服务职能，目前高等院校很少设置有专门的社会服务机构，已有的社会服务机构中存在着服务范围狭隘、服务效率低下、服务能力有限的问题。
