人力资源是所有资源中价值最高的，是第一资源。当今社会，人才的重要性不言而喻。社会上很多竞争在某种程度上就是人才的对决。因此，培养人才成为了社会的一个重要课题。教育机构作为培养人才的主要阵地，应该对这一课题进行深入研究，研究市场需要什么样的人才、如何培养市场需要的人才。
近20年来，秘书一直是市场需求量较大的岗位，专业秘书人才的培养规格也在逐步提升。2012年秘书学专业正式进入教育部本科专业目录，标志着秘书人才的培养进入一个新的历史时期。专业地位确立之后，如何培养高质量的适应市场需求的秘书人才，成为摆在相关教学研究部门面前的一项重要课题，而了解秘书人才就业市场的整体状况，明确用人单位的具体要求，清楚秘书学专业人才的就业竞争对手，是这一课题的重要组成部分。
