现阶段我国正在加快新农村的发展与建设。同时，新农村的文化建设也尤为重要。新农村舞蹈文化的发展是新农村文化建设的一部分，能体现新农村文化建设精神风貌。研究新农村舞蹈的发展对新农村舞蹈文化的发展与建设有重要意义。
目前，针对新农村舞蹈文化发展的研究并不多。研究新农村舞蹈文化的发展趋势，首先要对我国新农村的基本发展状况进行调查研究，其次对改善人们的精神生活有那些帮助。新农村舞蹈文化的发展趋势，对新农村文化建设有着深远的影响。在新农村快速发展阶段，同时也是新农村文化建设的重要开端。针对舞蹈文化的建设进行调查研究，是对新农村舞蹈文化发展方向的探索。在新农村文化发展的过程会出现很多的瓶颈，对面临的问题进行研究，并提出建设性意见。使新农村舞蹈文化的发展走向正轨。
在对新农村舞蹈文化的研究过程中，通过现代互联网媒体、图书馆借阅资料查找相关信息，社会实践“三下乡”等途径进行材料整理。

由于我国近几年来的发展重心更加侧重于经济方面，对于人们的文化需求则有所忽略，这也就造成了我们对舞蹈的认识仅限于舞台的华丽场面，从而忽视了舞台源于生活、服务于生活的本质。当代不乏很多人都认为舞蹈是一种高高在上的舞台艺术，这也让人们产生了舞蹈难以理解、难以欣赏的错误思想。这也就彻底颠覆了舞蹈的本质。其实对于舞蹈而言，它本身就是人们生活的一种真实写照，是人们表达情感的一种方式。因此，在当今社会，在社会更加关注基层群众文化建设的同时，基层舞蹈的辅导研究亦不容忽视。
一、新农村文化概念及广场舞蹈发展的背景
新农村的建设是在党的十六届五中全会中提出，为加快社会主义新农村的建设，提出以“生产发展、生活宽裕、乡风文明、村容整洁 、管理民主 ”为内容的新农村建设战略。建设新农村是加快我国现代化的重要一步。加快新农村文化建设是提升我国文化软实力关键之一。
随着国民经济的不断提升，我国的新农村舞蹈文化也随着国民经济的发展也在不断的提高。经济的繁荣改善了人们的生活水平，随之而来的就是人们的精神生活也在不断提高，人们追求的精神生活必须建立在物质基础之上。现如今，人们的生活不断提高，同时人们对精神生活也更加重视。
