从毕业生实习情况反观英语专业课程体系设置
随着社会发展和科技进步,尤其是知识经济时代的到来,社会对外语人才的需求呈现出多元化趋势。近几年,传统英语教学的弊端越来越突出,已经无法满足社会对学生英语技能的需求,并且过去单一外语专业和基础技能型的人才已不能适应市场经济的需要。然而,许多高校却似乎并未认识到这一点,仍然采用以前的教学模式和课程设置,导致英语专业毕业生就业形势愈加严峻。
课程设置是教学目标的具体体现,也是人才培养的一大关键。专业课程的设
置,很大程度上决定着学生所学的内容及形成的知识体系,也决定着学生的语言
能力和综合素质。因此,优化英语专业的课程设置刻不容缓。
本文是针对山东青年政治学院英语专业课程设置的实证研究。研究通过问卷形式对10家用人单位和41名英语专业2013级毕业生展开调查,旨在发现该校的课程设置与毕业生实习情况之间的关系,并通过访谈形式对3位学生和3位老师进行采访,旨在了解学生与老师对ESP课程设置的态度与建议。
本研究对改进山东青年政治学院英语专业的课程设置具有一定的现实指导意义,同时也希望为其他类似的新建的本科院校提供参考。

1.1 Background of the Study
    With China’s WTO entry and the popularity of the Internet, the relationship becomes increasingly close among countries all over the world in recent years, thus making English becomes a very popular major.However,the current employment situation of English major undergraduates is not very optimistic. English major even become one of the top 10 high-unemployment majors. Why? Admittedly, the number of English major undergraduates increases year by year, so the problem of oversupply is an important reason. But according to feedback of many companies and universities, the high-quality compound talents are hard to find and very valuable.
    Besides, with the rapid deve1opment of international exchange, communications between countries in culture, technology, economics and other fields become more and more frequent, which sets more demands on talents who are adept both at language and professional knowledge. However, many colleges and universities still use the former teaching model, and the cultivation of compound talents is not very satisfying.
    So how to optimize curriculum design and improve the employment situation  merits our concern.

1.2 Purpose of the Study
    The purpose of the paper is to make the analysis of the undergraduate internship of English majors and curriculum design in SDYU. In the process of cultivating compound foreign language talents, many universities just adopt single teaching method and overlook the efficiency of some other curriculum deign methods.  
    The study aims to solve the problem of the possible mismatch between English learners and courses. To identify the English students' needs in an intensive English training class, the questionnaires designed by the researcher were administered to the students.
     
1.3 Significance of the Study
    The study of curriculum design for English majors in SDYU has realistic  significance. With the further development of China’ s market economy reform, it is urgent for universities to adjust their teaching thoughts in English education and optimize course settings to cultivate compound talents. The foundation of any teaching program should be the needs of the students. However, close needs analysis has been absent in some English classes.
    This study states that the higher education should serve the local economic development; attach great importance to talent researches; pay more attention to undergraduate internship and employment quality. Meanwhile, the colleges and universities are supposed to carry out the employment-oriented school running concept by analyzing the training features of English majors creatively.
    The study can be of great significance in improving the current English teaching in Shandong Youth University of Political Science as well as in other universities.
