Abstract
Since the reform and opening of the new China, the building of a large number of residential communities in Huaian has been built to meet the growing material and cultural needs of the people.?as time goes on, the residential community aging and life of contradictions have become increasingly prominent. In this paper, This paper will study the reform methods of old residential community in Huaian, and for the?further study of seventy-ninth community in QingHe District as the research object to reveal the basic contradictions existing in old urban residential community .And we try to propose the transformation of old residential district methods from the architectural design and the environment of the living environment.?The reform and design of old residential community has a great significance for the sustainable development of society, and has a far-reaching impact on improving the living standards of modern people.?The focus of this research is on the heritage and protection and utilization of the old residential community outstanding historical and cultural heritage, and the use of innovative techniques to make it once again vibrant, and promote the exchange of space development.

人类对居住空间与环境的关注从未停止，这是城市发展的永恒话题。上世纪50～90年代，随着人民生活的基本需求日益增长，淮安市建设了大量居住社区，然而这些社区并非历史街区,但记载着城市发展和人民生活变化轨迹，是城市的活化石，人民赖以生存的物质和精神寄托。许多人认为将建筑粉刷一新、整治占道经营,就能解决旧居住区环境问题,这只是解决表面现象，并不能深入处理好居住空间与生活空间和时代发展相适应的矛盾，也是对旧居住区的不尊重。旧居住区空间再生与环境再生是社会可持续发展以及利益最大化的需求，新老交替需要一个过程，一个方法，一次再生的质变。
