（一）课题的目的和意义
随着计算机技术的发展和整个社会信息文化评述的不断提高，计算机已经逐渐渗入到人们的生产、学习、工作、生活等各个方面。从1946年第一台电子计算机诞生以来，计算机的发展日新月异。运算速度从每秒几千次到每秒几百亿次；处理器从焊有上百万个电子管的大的惊人的电子板到只有指甲大小的集成电路；现在计算机在硬件方面的发展已达到了每三个月更新换代一次的惊人速度。软件方面，也已从机器语言、汇编语言、高级语言发展到现如今的第四代语言——非结构化、面向对象、可视化的语言。
20世纪60年代美国最先将电脑用于教育测量。如今已经发展到了相对成熟的应用阶段，然而在国内这方面的研究才刚刚起步。随着社会的进步与经济的不断发展，学校教学与管理信息化发展也越来越迅速，对于考试也是一样的。众所周知，传统考试有着复杂而漫长的过程，而网上在线考试系统极大地提高了教学的灵活性，最大的优点是可以动态的管理考试信息从而降低了考生作弊的可能性，更好的检测出现阶段考生的学习状况，实现了考试的公平，公正性。网上考试系统可以进行及时阅卷，实现了无纸化考试，避免了老师们繁重的阅卷任务，节约了人力资源，物力资源，财力资源，也降低了阅卷出错的概率。
（二）课题研究对象、目标和方法
网上在线考试系统以计算机为工具，把考试系统完善，通过对教务管理所需的信息管理，减轻行政人员不必要的工作负担，更方便的管理考试信息，全面的提高教学质量。计算机资源是受到限制的，因此要充分的利用jsp的功能，设计出功能强大的软件。在线考试系统，以jsp为开发技术，以一次编写，到处运行，基本可以在所有平台上的任意环境开发；使用JDBC连接Navicat 8 for MySQL作为后台数据库，存取效率比较高，且较成熟，JDBC以极为简单的COM借口存取数据，简化了程序员数据存取的工作。应用MyEclipse作为开发工具，用Dreamweaver进行界面设计，Tomcat作为服务器。
